POOL AND SPA BARRIER COMPLIANCE PROCESS

Mornington Peninsula’s Specialists in Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance Inspections

Pool and spa barrier compliance process in a few easy steps

At Chordline we pride ourselves on helping you navigate pool and spa compliance using a straightforward process. From your initial contact we’ll answer your questions honestly and accurately. We’ll carry out inspection at a time that’s convenient for you. And we’ll make sure you know exactly what’s required so that you can lodge your certificate of compliance with your local council without delay and avoid a potential late penalty fee of up to $1652.

Step 1: Register

  • Register

All pools and spas in Victoria need to be registered with local council by 1st November 2020

  • Council letter

Your council will retrieve records to confirm the date of construction and supply a letter to you confirming these details

  • Standard

The year of construction is used to determine which Australian Standard will apply

Step 2: Prepare

  • Book

Book your preferred inspection time with Chordline Barrier Inspections (click here to book)

  • Provide

We’ll review your council letter to ensure you receive accurate advice related to the standard applicable to your swimming pool.

  • Prepare

We encourage you to perform a self-assessment using our Pool and Spa Barrier Compliance Checklist prior to inspection to ensure a smooth compliance process.

Step 3: Inspection

  • Meet

A professional Chordline Barrier Inspector or Assessor will meet you on site to inspect your pool or spa

  • Report

If the current barrier is non-compliant, we’ll advise you on actions that need to be undertaken and provide you with a detailed report outlining what is required to comply

  • Assist

We’ll recommend skilled local tradespeople that can assist you in making any required maintenance or repairs to resolve those issues within 60 days

Step 4: Compliance

  • Re-inspect

If your pool or spa did not pass inspection in the first visit, Chordline will re-inspect once any works have been completed

  • Confirm

If your pool or spa meet Australian Standards, Chordline Barrier Inspections will confirm compliance

  • Certify

Our Inspectors will issue you with a Certificate of Barrier Compliance that will be valid for 4 years

Step 5: Lodge

  • Lodge

You must lodge your Certificate of Barrier Compliance with your local council within 30 days of the date of issue of the certificate

  • Pay

You will need to pay a fee to your council when you lodge the certificate.  The current fee is $20.40

  • Confirmation

Council will confirm receipt of the certificate and will send you a written notice acknowledging the date the certificate was lodged and when re-inspection is required (4 years later)
